Sheres, Robert Cory

 Robert Sheres has been with the firm as a commercial litigation and appellate associate since 2009.  Mr. Sheres’ practice focuses on the resolution of business, partnership, and shareholder disputes relating to corporate governance, breach contract, and breach of fiduciary.  Mr. Sheres also represents individuals and businesses in commercial real estate, professional liability, and intellectual property matters.  Among his successes at the firm, Mr. Sheres, along with the firm’s managing-shareholder Howard DuBosar, obtained an arbitration award valued in excess of $18 Million and a final judgment in Federal Court of in excess of $56 Million.  As a result of these achievements, Mr. Sheres and Mr. DuBosar were selected by the Daily Business Review as the Most Effective Lawyers of 2010 in Arbitration and Most Effective Lawyers of 2011 in Real Estate Litigation. Mr. Sheres has litigated and argued in front of Florida’s various State, Federal, Bankruptcy, and Appellate courts.  Notably, Mr. Sheres and Mr. DuBosar have also represented the interests of United States creditors in proceedings filed on behalf of insolvent foreign corporations under Chapter 15 of the United States Bankruptcy Code.

Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Sheres had the honor of serving as a judicial law clerk for the Honorable Gary M. Farmer (ret.) in Florida’s Fourth District Court of Appeal.  As a judicial law clerk, Mr. Sheres obtained valuable insight into the judicial thought-process, as well as the importance of and requirements for adequately preserving issues in the event of an appeal.   Mr. Sheres obtained his law degree from Nova Southeastern University, Shepard Broad Law Center, graduating at the top of his class with highest honors (Summa Cum Laude).  In law school, Mr. Sheres was an editor of the Nova Law Review, a member of Nova’s competitive trial team, received eight book/highest grade awards in various subjects, and received numerous other awards upon graduation.  Such awards, included the Larry Kalevitch Award, presented to the graduate exhibiting the most promise in business and bankruptcy law and the NITA Trial Advocacy Award.  Following graduation, Mr. Sheres received the honor of speaking on behalf of the newly inducted lawyers at the 4th DCA’s induction ceremony after having earned one of the highest scores on the Florida Bar Exam in the State and the highest in the district.  

Mr. Sheres is an active member of the Florida Bar and South Florida community.  In addition to being a current and former member of various Palm Beach County Bar Association committees, including the Judicial Relations Committee, Commercial Litigation CLE Committee, Professionalism Committee, and Bankruptcy CLE Committee, Mr. Sheres is on the South County Steering Committee of the Legal Aid Society of Palm Beach County.  Mr. Sheres is also a member of the Anti-Defamation Leagues’ Civil Rights and Law Enforcement Committees.
