Elissa represents the firm’s clients in all manner of employment-related disputes. She has experience representing clients in state and federal court, as well as in arbitrations and before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the Illinois Department of Human Rights, the Illinois Human Rights Commission, and the Illinois Department of Employment Security. In addition, she regularly advises and negotiates severance, non-compete, and restrictive covenant agreements.
Elissa is a 2005 graduate of IIT-Chicago-Kent College of Law. Prior to studying law, Elissa attended the University of Oregon and graduated with honors from DePaul University, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Women’s Studies. In her sophomore year of college, she was selected for the Teaching Assistant Program in the Women’s Studies Department and by her senior year, she was a member of the Women’s Studies Thesis Writing Program.
During law school, Elissa served as “student attorney” in the Law Offices of Chicago-Kent: Employment and Civil Rights Law Clinic, a fee-generating teaching law firm. She was selected to extern at the EEOC’s Litigation Department, where she worked with the federal agency administrative law judges in drafting their judicial opinions.
Elissa is a member of the National and Illinois chapter of the National Employment Lawyers Association, the Illinois State Bar Association, and the DuPage County Bar Association. She is the current chair of the DCBA’s Labor and Employment Law Committee. Elissa has also served as a volunteer member of the Election Day Legal Oversight Committee during local congressional and mayoral elections.
