Sarah Serpa's practice focuses on complex litigation, including catastrophic personal injury, contract disputes and business fraud. Sarah Serpa was the responsible attorney for the largest pre-trial personal injury settlement in the history of the United States, at $50,000,000.00 for two Orange County mothers rendered quadriplegic.
In 2007, Ms. Serpa was named a "Rising Star" as one of the top 2.5% of Southern California lawyers as rated by her peers. She was also named a Super Lawyer for 2011 and 2012. This is an award given by her peers as one of the top 2% of attorneys in Southern California.
She successfully prosecuted three severe brain injury cases against large newspaper companies, involving complex issues of employee vs. independent contractor status of workers.
Ms. Serpa also has extensive experience in litigation against governmental entities concerning dangerous conditions of public property wherein she gained vast knowledge in the area of roadway design and traffic engineering.
Recently, in 2012, Ms. Serpa obtained large settlements (6 million and 3.5 million respectively) for two separate clients who were struck by buses. The clients suffered catastrophic injuries.
She also successfully defended corporations and their directors against allegations of fraud and unfair business practices.
Ms. Serpa sits on the Board of Directors for the Orange County Trial Lawyers and is the editor in chief of its quarterly magazine, The Gavel.
Ms. Serpa is admitted to practice in California and in the United States District Courts of California and Colorado. Ms. Serpa obtained her B.S. in Management with a Certificate of Excellence in Economics from the Georgia Institute of Technology and attended Mercer University Law School and Loyola Law School in Los Angeles, obtaining her Juris Doctor in 1998.
