Shaffer, Robert A

STEVEN E. SELLERS is a board certified construction and business litigation lawyer with a state-wide practice based in Tallahassee, Florida. He has a bachelor of building construction degree from the University of Florida (1983) and returned to UF for his law degree (high honors, Order of the Coif, 1993) after several years in the construction industry. After law school Mr. Sellers clerked for Justice Ben F. Overton at the Florida Supreme Court and then worked with two construction law firms before starting his solo practice in 2000.

Mr. Sellers has a general litigation practice with an emphasis on issues relating to construction and business disputes. These issues include lien claims and defenses, non-payment, bond claims and defenses, construction defects, and breach of contracts for construction and real estate purchase and sell agreements. However, the litigation often may include claims for defamation, bad checks, statutory causes of action, fraud, and negligence among other causes of action.

Mr. Sellers has appeared in federal district court in the Northern and Middle districts of Florida, the bankruptcy court of the Northern District of Florida, state courts throughout Florida, and before Florida administrative hearing officers, city and county commissions, private arbitrators, and mediators, among others.

Representative clients include the Florida Supreme Court, Florida State University, the Seminole Boosters, Alachua County, general contractors, sub-contractors, suppliers, owners, and sureties.
