Education Firm founder Kathy A. Higby graduated from the University of Denver College of Law. She worked as a paralegal concentrating in family law for approximately fifteen years before going to law school.
Professional Activities Kathy A. Higby is a member of the Arapahoe County Bar Association and the Colorado Bar Association. Ms.Higby is also a past Board member of the Colorado Women's Bar Association and has volunteered at the Denver Project Safeguard instructing pro se litigants on the nuances of custody and dissolution concerns. She also volunteers for the Arapahoe County Bar Association.
Publications Ms. Higby has authored a two-part article on the relationship between a bankruptcy discharge and marital obligation assumed in a dissolution entitled "Bankruptcy's Fresh Start Versus Family Law's Marital Obligations." The article was printed in the April and May 1999 Colorado Lawyer. She has spoken on the same topic at the 1999 and 2001 Colorado Women's Bar Association Annual Conventions and the 2000 National Legal Institute Seminar. Ms. Higby has also authored an article on spousal maintenance entitled "Post-Dissolution Maintenance Review in Trial Court Under CRS Sec. 140-10-114 or 122" which appeared in the July 1997 Colorado Lawyer.
