John Segelbaum grew up in north Seattle where he attended Shoreline High School. John earned a degree in Psychology from Dartmouth College in 1969. While in college, John worked in the garment industry and in the hardware and lumber business. Following graduation, John served as an officer in the United States Navy during the Vietnam war. He graduated from Boston University School of Law in 1974.
John began his legal career in 1975 as a deputy prosecuting attorney in Snohomish County, where he rose to the level of Senior Deputy in charge of the felony case charging unit. In 1980, he left the prosecutor’s office to become an award winning investigative journalist with KIRO television in Seattle, winning the gold medal for investigative reporting at the prestigious New York International Film and Television Festival. John returned to the practice of law in 1982 as prosecuting attorney for the City of Everett. John has also worked as an Assistant City Attorney for the City of Seattle and as Assistant Attorney General for the Department of Justice of the United States Virgin Islands.
Since 1983, John has been in private practice in Edmonds, Wa. emphasizing criminal defense in courts throughout western Washington.
He has also served as Judge Pro Tem for the King County and Snohomish County District Courts. John has handled thousands of criminal cases, both as a prosecutor and as a defense attorney.
John and his wife Judith have raised their two children in Edmonds.
