John Scofield, a partner in Caddell & Chapman, represents victims and families in products liability and other catastrophic injury litigation. He also represents companies and consumers in class actions, construction litigation, and commercial disputes.
Mr. Scofield graduated from Southern Methodist University School of law in 1992 as a member of Phi Delta Phi. He graduated from Vanderbilt University, magna cum laude, in 1989 with a B.A. degree in English and a B.S. degree in psychology.
After graduating from law school in 1992, Mr. Scofield successfully defended companies in commercial, products liability, medical malpractice, and other personal injury litigation. In January 1997, Mr. Scofield began representing victims in products liability, medical malpractice, and other devastating injury matters. At Caddell & Chapman, Mr. Scofield has continued his representation of families, companies, and consumers, and he has built a national law practice by assisting clients in all corners of the United States and also clients in foreign countries.
Mr. Scofield is a member of the State Bar of Texas and is licensed to practice before the U.S. District Court for the Southern and Eastern Districts of Texas. He also has been admitted to practice before state of federal courts during litigation in California, Florida, Nevada, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, and Tennessee.
Mr. Scofield is a member of the American Association for Justice and the Houston Bar Association. He is a fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation and the Houston Bar Foundation. In 2004, Texas Monthly magazine recognized Mr. Scofield as a "Rising Star" in the legal profession and designated him a "Texas Super Lawyer," a Thomson Reuters business. Also in 2004, he was named a "Lawyer on the Fast Track" by H Texas magazine. In 2005 and 2006, Texas Monthly magazine , a Thomson Reuters business, again recognized Mr. Scofield as a "Texas Super Lawyer." Also in 2006, H Texas magazine named him one of "Houston's Best Lawyers for the People." In 2007, Mr. Scofield was named as one of "Houston's Top Lawyers for the People" by H Texas magazine.
Mr. Scofield also contributes to his local community. Assisting those who cannot afford legal services, Mr. Scofield has been a member of the Pro Bono College of the State Bar of Texas and previously served as the president of the Alumni Association for the Kinkaid School in Houston.
