Mr. Schwartz has been practicing law in Contra Costa County for 37 years. He is a member of both the National Board of Trial Advocacy and the American Board of Trial Advocates. He emphasizes litigating serious injury cases. He was lead trial counsel in the cases of Acosta v. City and County of San Francisco, and Wilkes v. Merrithew Memorial Hospital, both of which resulted in successful jury verdicts. A graduate of the University of San Francisco (J.D.) in 1975, Mr. Schwartz was admitted to the California and Federal Bars the same year and to the U.S. Supreme Court in 1979. He has served as a member of the Board of Directors of both the Contra Costa County Legal Services Foundation and the Alameda/Contra Costa Trial Lawyers Association, and is currently chairman of the Contra Costa Superior Court Alternative Dispute Resolution Committee.
