Schulman, Richard S

Julian Schreibman joined the Firm's Litigation Department in 2008 and became a Partner in 2011. His practice extends to both civil and criminal matters, including white collar defense. Mr. Schreibman graduated from Yale College, cum laude, in 1994 and received his law degree from Yale Law School in 1997. He began his career in the International Group at the Washington office of Baker & McKenzie. There, his practice focused on international trade matters, including export controls and embargo compliance. In December 1998, Mr. Schreibman entered on duty with the Central Intelligence Agency’s Office of General Counsel, where he served for three and a half years. During his time at the CIA, Mr. Schreibman was responsible for an array of complex civil and criminal cases. He held the highest security clearance offered by the U.S. government and received numerous performance awards. In 2002, Mr. Schreibman was a recipient of the Attorney General’s Distinguished Service Award for his contribution to the prosecution of four Al Qaeda terrorists for the 1998 attacks on U.S. embassies in Kenya and Tanzania (United States v. Osama bin Laden, SDNY).

In 2002, Mr. Schreibman became an Assistant United States Attorney in the Southern District of New York, where his work focused on large-scale narcotics trafficking and sophisticated financial fraud cases, including the prosecution of celebrity investment-advisor Todd Eberhard. From 2005-2008, Mr. Schreibman served as Senior Assistant District Attorney in Ulster County New York where he handled nearly every type of criminal case to arise in the County including homicide, gang assault, sexual assault and child abuse, and tried more than a dozen cases to verdict. Immediately before joining the Firm, he completed the largest Grand Jury investigation in the County’s history, examining allegations of misfeasance in the years-late and $20 million over-budget construction of the Ulster County jail.
