Paul Schroeder has a broad range of experience in civil litigation throughout the United States before state and federal courts, arbitration panels, and administrative agencies. He has significant experience in insurance and reinsurance matters, environmental lawsuits, product and professional liability cases, and contract and construction disputes. He has been lead attorney in more than 40 trials, a third of which were presented to juries.
Paul's insurance experience encompasses litigation and counseling, for both insurers and insureds, in a wide variety of substantive areas: environmental impairment, general and product liability, professional malpractice, health and disability, directors and officers, agents/brokers, fidelity bonds, and liquidations and rehabilitations. His experience in personal injury litigation includes the prosecution and defense of cases involving toxic torts, product liability, professional malpractice (attorneys, architects, and engineers), and general negligence. His commercial contract and tort experience primarily includes disputes involving corporate acquisitions and divestitures, CERCLA, ERISA, banking practices, and construction activities.
Paul is a member of the ABA (Litigation and Tort and Insurance Practice Sections) and The Chicago Bar Association. He previously served as counsel to the governor's Task Force on Medical Malpractice and was appointed a member of the Chicago Central Area Committee. Paul has lectured at seminars and classes on evidence, expert witnesses, and deposition techniques. He also has instructed on trial skills at programs co-sponsored by the National Institute for Trial Advocacy.
