Laura Schneider is a partner in the firm's Labor and Employment Practice Group and Immigration Group. She joined the firm in 1992.
Practice
Ms. Schneider’s practice focuses on all aspects of labor and employment law. She represents employers before state and federal courts and government agencies in a wide range of litigation matters, including those involving discrimination and harassment, contractual disputes, unfair competition, ERISA, and wage and hour claims. She also counsels clients on employment law compliance issues, personnel policies, employee relations and performance management. Additionally, Ms. Schneider consults on immigration matters in connection with workforce composition and transactions.
Ms. Schneider regularly negotiates employment and severance agreements, and advises clients on the employment and labor issues associated with mergers, acquisitions and other corporate transactions. She also assists employers in preparing for and managing government audits in areas including employee classification and affirmative action compliance.
Ms. Schneider's practice also focuses on traditional labor law. She represents clients in a variety of matters involving unions, union avoidance, collective bargaining, contract administration, grievance arbitrations, unfair labor practice charges and other litigation involving the National Labor Relations Act. Ms. Schneider also assists employers with preparing for and managing strikes and other labor disputes.
Ms. Schneider conducts customized management training and seminars on topics including discrimination and harassment avoidance, hiring and firing, disability accommodation and leave management, compliance with state and federal wage and hour laws, union awareness and positive employee relations.
