Leslie has extensive litigation and consulting experience with a broad range of issues facing today's employers. Her practice focuses primarily on litigation where she effectively advocates on behalf of our clients at the state, administrative and federal court levels. Leslie has defended employers from a variety of claims including discrimination, harassment, wrongful termination, non-subscriber workplace injuries and OSHA citations. In addition to her experience assisting at trial, Leslie has successfully drafted and argued numerous motions including motions to dismiss, motions for summary judgment and those at the pre-trial hearing stage. Outside the courtroom, she has aggressively represented our clients' interests at settlement conferences, mediations and depositions. To compliment her litigation practice, Leslie also provides compliance guidance for employers on Title VII, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Fair Labor Standards Act, the Occupational Safety and Health Act, the Family and Medical Leave Act and the National Labor Relations Act. She has played an integral part in developing and presenting educational seminars that provide innovative lawsuit prevention strategies to our clients.
Through her experience in legal publications, Leslie has developed finely honed skills in the areas of complex legal research and effective written communication. Leslie began developing her legal writing skills as a member of both the Corporate Counsel Review and Currents International Trade Law Journal at South Texas College of Law. She was able to transfer this experience to the Firm by acting as the Articles & Publications Coordinator for Alaniz and Schrader, L.L.P. As Articles & Publications Coordinator, Leslie has been responsible for establishing relationships with authors and publishers of trade magazines in the areas of steel manufacturing and finishing, food processing, packing and distribution, the retail grocery industry and other general manufacturing areas. Not only has Leslie edited articles for publication, but she herself is a published author on labor and employment issues in the baking industry.
A native of Dallas, Texas, Leslie earned a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Texas A&M University with a Certificate in International Business. She followed her undergraduate education with a law degree from South Texas College of Law where she was a member of the Dean's List and a two-time recipient of the Phi Delta Phi Highest Grade Award. She is a member of the State Bar of Texas Labor and Employment Section, the Texas Women Lawyers Association, Phi Delta Phi International Honors Fraternity, the Texas Young Lawyers Association and the Houston Young Lawyers Association.
