Rob Schmoll's trial practice is grounded in complex civil litigation, with a number of recent engagements on behalf of regional airline clients in commercial litigation with their mainline contract partners. In these matters, he has had significant day-to-day responsibility for the management of all aspects of the litigation from complaint to dispositive motions. In May 2008, Rob was part of a team that obtained a preliminary injunction against a mainline carrier's purported termination of one client's code-share agreement and then successfully defended that decision before the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals.
Rob also is part of a team of Jones Day lawyers representing a manufacturer of side-by-side off-road vehicles in a number of product liability actions that have been filed in state court in Gwinnett County, Georgia. He is currently representing a Georgia-based building products distributor in federal antitrust litigation pending in the Southern District of Mississippi. Rob also recently counseled a franchisor client regarding the removal to federal court and eventual settlement of litigation initiated by two of the client's former franchisees. In prior engagements, he has counseled and represented clients in the pharmaceutical, health care, natural gas, banking, airline, retail, and chemical manufacturing industries.
