RICHARD D. HAYES received his Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Texas Christian University (1975), his Master of Business Administration degree from Texas A&M University (1976), and his law degree from St. Mary's University School of Law (1978). He served as a briefing attorney for the Chief Judge of the United States District Court for the Western District of Texas (1978-1979). He is Board Certified by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization in Commercial and Residential Real Estate Law (1987-present). He is licensed to practice in all Texas Courts; the United States District Courts for the Northern, Eastern, Southern and Western Districts of Texas; the Courts of Appeal for the 5th and 11th Circuits; and the Supreme Court of the United States of America. Member: Denton County Bar Association (President 1994-1995), the State Bar of Texas (Litigation and Real Property Sections). He is the past County Chairman of the Denton County Republican Party (1996-2002) and served on the Boards of Directors of North Texas Savings & Loan Association, Jefferson Heritage Bank and Jefferson Heritage Mortgage Corporation, the Board of Regents of Texas Woman's University (1996-2002, appointed by Honorable George W. Bush) and the Denton County Elections Commission. He is Past Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Denton Chamber of Commerce (1994-1995), Past President of the Denton Kiwanis Club (1993-1994), served on the Project Cabinet of Vision for Denton--The 21st Century, and served on the Organizing Committee for the 24th and 25th Annual Texas Special Olympics. He is President and serves on the Board of Directors of the Oakpoint Water Control Improvement District No. 1. He is Vice-President of the Pachyderm Club of Denton County. He is a Professional Registered Parliamentarian and member of the National Association of Parliamentarians and the Texas State Association of Parliamentarians (Third Vice-President 2009-2010). He currently serves on the Board of Directors of the North Texas State Fair Association, the Longhorn Council, Boy Scouts of America (Council Commissioner 2007-2009) as an assistant to Scoutmaster of Troop 140, Denton, Texas, and on the Board of Directors of the Denton Public Schools Foundation. He practices in the areas of government, condemnation, real estate, construction, and civil trial litigation. He has been selected by Texas Monthly as a Texas Super Lawyer for 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009.
