She also was a managing editor on the Journal of Sexual Orientation Law (now The Dukeminier Awards Journal of Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity Law). Alyssa also was awarded the Morris Greenspan Memorial Prize in International Law. At the UCLA Fielding School of Public Health, she received the Ruth J. Roemer Award for Social Justice. After graduating from UCLA, Alyssa was a Fellow with the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA).
In 2010 and 2011, Alyssa was recognized by her peers as a 'Rising Star,' one of the top lawyers under the age of forty in Southern California. This distinct honor is only bestowed on 2.5% of the lawyers in the state.
Some notable results Alyssa has helped her clients obtain include: $5.5M settlement for an infant who suffered a hypoxic brain injury due to hyperbilirubinemia/kernicterus; $4.5M settlement for a family who lost a mother due to failure to diagnose preeclampsia; $1.8M settlement for a family whose son drowned in high school gym class; $2.4M settlement for a veteran who suffered a hypoxic brain injury due to negligent care and treatment in surgery; $2.96M settlement for a youth minister whose leg was amputated due to medical negligence during surgery.
Alyssa is admitted to practice in the state courts of California and Arizona. She is also admitted to the U.S. Court of Appeals, Ninth Circuit and the U.S. District Court, Central and Southern Districts of California.
