Lester Savit has 30 years of experience helping companies solve their legal problems relating to inventions, trade secrets, trademarks, and good will. He has represented companies in the biotechnology, pharmaceutical, medical device, polymer, specialty chemical, semiconductor, electronics, and other industries.
Lester represents clients in federal court litigation and arbitrations involving highly complex technologies and advises U.S. and foreign companies on how to avoid or resolve disputes. He acted as lead lawyer in a series of 10 patent infringement actions brought on behalf of a major biotech company against generic drug manufacturers. He also advised a European company prior to its entry into the U.S. market, led a long-term patent enforcement program for another client, and obtained judgments totaling more than $90 million for three others. Lester is the only attorney in the country to have obtained a default judgment against a patent infringer as a sanction for discovery abuses.
Lester heads the Intellectual Property Practice in the Irvine Office. He is an adjunct professor at Pepperdine University School of Law, where he has been teaching "Law & Biotechnology" since 2004. Lester also is a neutral for the American Arbitration Association and a member of the National Panel of Patent Arbitrators and has experience as an arbitrator in patent, licensing, and contract disputes. In addition, he served on the board of directors for the Federal Bar Association, Orange County Chapter, from 2003 to 2008, and speaks on intellectual property and litigation topics such as the patentability of human genetic sequences, electronic discovery, and intellectual property crimes.
