Sarfan, Edward I.

Rick and I met as undergraduates at UNC-Chapel Hill (Go Heels!), married in 1977 and graduated from Campbell Law School in 1981.  From 1981 through 1986 we practiced together in my hometown of Durham, NC and often assisted my dad, Lester W. Owen, also an attorney, with various cases prior to his retirement.

Eventually we decided that our “junior partners” needed me more at home than I needed to be at the office!  We are incredibly thankful for our daughter, Jillian, and our sons, Joshua and his wife, Andrea, David and Chadwick.  In 1990 we moved to the mountains, and Jackson County has been a wonderful place to raise our family.  Now that we are “empty nesters,” I am back at the office assisting Rick with his cases and filling the role of office manager.  Through the years I maintained my law license by attending the required continuing legal education classes.

Although it has its flaws, the American legal system, founded upon Judeo-Christian principles, enables us to enjoy the blessings of life and liberty in a remarkable fashion, and it is a privilege to be involved in the pursuit of justice.
