Jim Sander has been practicing law in the Twin Cities with an emphasis on mechanics liens, construction law and creditors remedies for more than 35 years. Jim’s clients have included many national and regional material suppliers and contractors. He has also represented homeowners in construction disputes and in claims with the Minnesota Contractors Recovery Fund.
Jim joined Hammargren & Meyer, P.A. in October 2011 after a dozen years in solo practice and more than 20 years as a shareholder at a downtown law firm in Minneapolis. He is a 1976 graduate of the University of Minnesota Law School. Jim is licensed to practice in the courts in both Minnesota and Wisconsin and a member of the bar in both states.
Jim’s experience with the mechanics lien and surety bond laws of many states is well known. He has been the author of several articles on liens and collection tools for the construction industry, a guest columnist on lien and collection topics for the Finance and Commerce newspaper in Minneapolis and a frequent speaker on a variety of topics to lawyers’ continuing legal education and to industry groups and through a number of trade organizations. He is a trained mediator and arbitrator in lien and construction cases. Jim was an original member and a former chairperson of the Construction Law Section of the Minnesota State Bar Association.
