Edison Samways is an associate attorney at Weiss, Alden & Polo, P.A., one of the oldest immigration law firms in Florida. Edison’s practice focuses exclusively on immigration, nationality, and consular law. He has represented clients before U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Customs and Border Protection, the U.S. Department of State, and the Executive Officer for Immigration Review.
Born in Chicago, Illinois to Brazilian and Cuban parents, Edison understands the difficulties immigrants face in the United States. Edison views his work as greater than assisting clients in obtaining or maintaining legal status in the United States. His objectives are to help unite families; facilitate investment in the economy; support entrepreneurs who bring with them new businesses, fresh ideas, and create jobs; and maintain the legitimacy of the U.S. legal system by protecting the rights of immigrants from all walks of life.
Edison obtained his Juris Doctorate degree from Brigham Young University in April 2009, and was admitted to practice law in the State of Florida the same year. He also earned a Master of Science in Taxation from Florida International University and a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of Miami. Edison is fluent in Portuguese and Spanish and conversational in Japanese.
Edison has been a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Associate (AILA) since 2011 and presently sits on the Congressional and Budget Committees. He is also an active member of the J. Reuben Clark Law Society and regularly volunteers at his church. During his free time, Edison enjoys spending time with his family and playing basketball.
