John Salvucci heads the Healthcare Liability practice area at Nelson Levine de Luca & Hamilton. Mr. Salvucci regularly counsels excess insurers in high exposure cases and represents medical professionals facing malpractice claims. In addition, his group provides healthcare professional liability insurance coverage opinions, and represents insurers in high exposure coverage cases.
Last year, a leading international insurance company appointed Mr. Salvucci to their Catastrophic Injury Panel. He has served as national counsel in mass tort litigation, defending claims on behalf of a weight loss company; a medical device manufacturer of bone screws; and most recently, a company processing human bone tissue.
A highly sought-after speaker, Mr. Salvucci lectured on medical products before a world congress in Malaysia in 2008. His knowledge of viral disease transmission resulted in the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) inviting him to join the Biohazards Committee, comprised of 15 scientists and doctors from around the world. The Committee met in May 2010 at the IAEA's headquarters in Vienna, Austria to establish protocols addressing the remediation of materials contaminated with anthrax and other lethal pathogens. The committee's work will be summarized in a book circulated among the member states of the United Nations.
A peer reviewer for the European medical journal Cell and Tissue Banking, Mr. Salvucci had an article published concerning viral disease transmission in the publication’s May 2011 issue. This article led to invitations to speak at medical and scientific forums around the world, including Hong Kong, Turkey, China, Italy and Egypt. Most recently, he was an invited lecturer at the American Psychoanalytic Association’s National Meeting.
