Jim Ruddy concentrates the majority of his practice in the many aspects of maritime law. He has litigated numerous and varied ocean, rail, truck, air, warehouse and property damage subrogation cases and has negotiated settlement of many cargo recovery claims. Jim has also handled significant matters involving marine insurance, general average claims, NVOCC defense as well as FMC surety bond issues.
In 1972 Jim graduated from Fordham University where he earned his B.S. He then went on to attain his J.D. from New York Law School in 1975. Upon his graduation from law school, Jim began his legal career with the "Donovan" firm and from 1992 through 2005 was a partner with the firm of Badiak, Will & Ruddy.
Jim has been a long time member of the Maritime Law Association of the United States. He also served as a Director of the Marine and Insurance Claims Association until 2006. Jim has received an AV "Preeminent" Peer Review Rating form Martindale-Hubbell.
