Seth J. Robbins, an associate in the firm's Litigation practice area, is a product of Phillips Academy Andover, Boston College and Suffolk University Law School, cum laude.  Mr. Robbins specializes in handling complex civil and criminal litigation in state and federal courts throughout the country and has extensive experience in trial and appellate practice, alternative dispute resolution, expert witness development and litigation management.

Mr. Robbins' practice is vast and diverse.  For example, Mr. Robbins frequently represents clients in matters involving complex business, probate, professional liability, real estate, employment and personal injury related disputes, including defamation, discrimination and disputes between heirs, beneficiaries and members of closely-held corporations, LLC's and partnerships.  Mr. Robbins has successfully represented several clients before various State Commissions and Boards, including the State Ethics Commission, the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination and different Boards of the Division of Professional Licensure.

Mr. Robbins has also developed a criminal practice, representing clients charged with crimes in state and federal courts ranging from domestic assault and battery to drug and firearm possession and distribution to participation in counterfeit check cashing schemes.  Mr. Robbins takes great pride in always being accessible to his clients (and his clients' families) so as to ensure that sound legal advice is only a phone call away.

Since joining Todd & Weld in January 2006, Mr. Robbins has consistently proved himself an able and fearless advocate.  Consequently, Mr. Robbins has secured several favorable judgments and settlements on behalf of his clients.  Some of Mr. Robbins' most recent and notable achievements include:

  • Successfully petitioning the Supreme Judicial Court to reform a trust to conform with the objectives of the settlor.
  • Securing a judgment in the amount of $504,290, including an award for attorneys' fees, against an individual who forged a Will and defrauded an Estate of several hundreds of thousands of dollars.
  • Securing a favorable settlement against a Fortune 500 company in connection with a former female employee's claim for gender discrimination.
  • Securing a substantial settlement shortly after filing suit, and prior to taking any depositions, on behalf of an individual doctor pursuing a claim for defamation against another doctor.
  • Securing a favorable settlement on behalf of a company against a former employee and the former employee's new employer, a competitor company, for the misappropriation of the company's valuable trade secrets and the former employee's violation of the company's non-compete and confidentiality agreement.
  • Securing a favorable settlement in the State of Ohio on behalf of a Massachusetts real estate development company against an individual and his real estate management company for fraudulent misrepresentations in connection with the sale of certain real estate.
  • Securing a favorable settlement on behalf of an individual for severe personal injuries sustained on premises owned by an American public corporation that runs a chain of large, discount department stores.
  • Obtaining a favorable settlement on behalf of an individual severely beaten by bouncers outside a popular Boston nightclub.
  • Recovering a substantial security deposit, with interest, on behalf of a company whose commercial landlord unreasonably withheld the sizeable deposit after the company lawfully vacated the property upon the termination of the lease.

Mr. Robbins is admitted to practice in all Massachusetts state courts, the United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts, and the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit.  He is also a member of the Massachusetts Bar Association and Boston Bar Association.

While at Suffolk, Mr. Robbins was a Note Editor for the Suffolk Transnational Law Review and authored an article on music piracy.
