Colin Dunn has worked for a number of judges in various courts in Chicago. He most recently served as the Senior Law Clerk for the Honorable Justice Patrick J. Quinn, Presiding Justice of the Illinois Appellate Court, First District, Fourth Division, where he drafted opinions, orders and memoranda for the respected jurist. He also tapped on his externship experience for the Honorable Justice Ann Williams of the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals as well as for the Honorable Judge Ronald Guzman of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois when he initiated the Externship Program for law students for Justice Quinn. He also has served as an Assistant State's Attorney in the Cook County State's Attorney's Office under Dick Devine, having worked as a prosecutor in the First Municipal/Community Prosecutions Division. He also filed numerous appellate briefs and argued before the First District Appellate Court of Illinois in the Criminal Appeals Division.
Now, he translates those trial skills in the civil arena where already he has handled a number of high-profile, complex cases at Clifford Law Offices, including the Cook County Administration Building fire, a tragedy that killed many and injured scores of others which ended in a $100 million settlement for the victims and their families. Colin also is involved in the litigation stemming from the crash of Comair Flight 5191 in Lexington, Kentucky. And he is working on an explosion at Abbott Labs in North Chicago that seriously injured two workers. He is not afraid of hard work, and he is not afraid to get to answers to tough legal questions that the families deserve in these highly-charged cases.
Colin obtained his law degree from Loyola University School of Law in Chicago, graduating magna cum laude. He was eighth in his class of 169 and served on the Law Journal, an honor and a distinction. He tutored others in civil procedure and even today he still tries to mentor others through teaching appellate advocacy as an Adjunct Professor at his alma mater since 2004. Colin also has written numerous articles for several national publications and is a columnist for the Chicago Daily Law Bulletin, the nation's oldest daily legal publication. He earned his bachelor's degree from Miami University of Ohio, traveling every year with Habitat for Humanity to build homes for those less fortunate. His serious approach belies a kind, sensitive person, always looking out to help others.
Clifford Law Offices is fortunate to have Colin Dunn as an associate at the firm.
