William F. Dowling, Esq. is of counsel to the firm. He is a graduate of Columbia University and received his law degree from Boston College Law School in 1973. Mr. Dowling had been an Assistant District Attorney in Manhattan for four years (1973-77) and was chief of the New York State Attorney General's Criminal Division for an additional six years.
From 1986-88, Mr. Dowling served as the Executive Vice-President of the New York Yankees, where he reported directly to Principal Owner George M. Steinbrenner III. His specific duties with the club included: the negotiation of all media, marketing, concession, labor, and employment agreements associated with the operations of a Major League Baseball team, as well as the supervision of all legal counsel. He was also responsible for the daily operations of the franchise including supervision of all team personnel, as well as serving as the director of the New York Yankees Foundation, which raises funds for numerous charitable events.
After his departure from the Yankees, Mr. Dowling became a member of the firm. In December, 1999, he became the President and Managing Partner of the New Britain Rock Cats Baseball Club, the Double-A Eastern League affiliate of the Minnesota Twins, Mr. Dowling remains of counsel to the firm, specializing in sports law and civil and criminal litigation.
In 2001 Mr. Dowling was the recipient of the Eastern League Executive of the Year Award.
