Mr. Rice has over forty years of legal experience. He came to Wilmington, North Carolina in 1970 and set up a practice of law focusing on litigation, both civil and criminal. After eight years of experience as a trial attorney, he was appointed District Court Judge. Thereafter, he was elected to three terms as a District Court Judge. After thirteen years of experience as a trial judge, he was appointed Chief District Court Judge of the fifth judicial district (New Hanover and Pender counties).
In 1992, Mr. Rice left the bench and established the Law Firm of Charles E. Rice, III. This firm became Rice Law, PLLC in 2005. Over the past fifteen years, he has represented more than 600 clients primarily with family law related issues. These include alimony, child custody, child support, divorce, equitable distribution, post separation support, premarital agreements and post marital agreements. Most family law cases involve hearings on certain limited issues and many of these cases have gone to trial on the main issues.
Mr. Rice achieves the goals of his clients through settlement negotiations, hearings and trials.
