Jesus M. Dovalina graduated in 1979 from the University of Texas in San Antonio with a BA in Criminal Justice. From 1979 to 1985 he worked as a paralegal for Knickerbocker, Heredia, Rodriguez Law Office. In 1987 he received a JD with Honors, graduating Cum Laude in the top 10% of his class from Thurgood Marshall School of Law in Houston, Texas.

Jesus is a member of the Federal Bar Association and the Texas Trial Lawyer Association. He served in the Texas Trial Lawyers Membership Committee from 2006-2009. He has also helped his community by serving as a board member to the Texas Workforce Commission and the Texas Community Counsel from 1998 to 2002.
