Mr. Reyes obtained his Juris Doctor Degree from Southwestern University in Los Angeles, California and his Bachelor's of Science in Accounting from California State University San Bernardino. Mr. Reyes practices in the areas of Immigration law, Family law, and Estates & Trusts. Mr. Reyes is a Certified Public Accountant and has been certified as a Specialist in Family Law by the State Bar of California Board of Legal Specialization. Although educated in the United States, Mr. Reyes comes from a family of lawyers in the Philippines. His grandfather was a former prosecutor in the Philippines who graduated from Georgetown University in Washington D.C. He is also related to former Philippine Supreme Court Justice Jose B. Reyes, a political activist and one of the longest tenured Supreme Court Justices. Mr. Reyes was born in Quezon City, Philippines where he studied at several private elementary schools in the Philippines including University of Santo Tomas, Angelicum, and JASMS. Shortly after the assassination of Benigno Aquino in 1983, and fearing a revolution in the Philippines against the dictator Ferdinand Marcos, Mr. Reyes' parents immigrated the family to the United States.
While studying College and without much financial support, Mr. Reyes supported himself by taking over his father's struggling restaurant business in California where he subsequently turned the business around to profitability. After getting his Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Mr. Reyes worked for several CPA firms and financial institutions including Arthur Andersen LLP, Bank of America, and Sanwa Bank. Just like in college, Mr. Reyes worked toward getting his law degree at night while working full time during the day. Just like most immigrants, Mr. Reyes' life is about survival and constant struggle to achieve the American dream.
In 1999, Mr. Reyes established the Law Offices of Kenneth Reyes, P.C. which represents clients in the areas of Immigration law, Family law, Estates & Trusts. Since 1999, Mr. Reyes has handled diverse types of immigration cases from employment based Green card petitions to family based Green card petitions including marriage based petitions. Mr. Reyes represented foreign business owners in obtaining E and L visas. Mr. Reyes also represented foreign entertainers in obtaining O and P visas such as the Latin pop band Bate q Bate from Uruguay. Mr. Reyes also represents immigrant respondents in Immigration Court and defends them in removal proceedings. The Law Offices of Kenneth U. Reyes is focused on finding legal solutions to their clients' immigration problems no matter how difficult and complicated the issues are.
Mr. Reyes is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) and the Los Angeles County Bar Association (LACBA) Immigration and Family law sections. In the past, Mr. Reyes has been involved in providing pro bono legal representation in Immigration Court through the Los Angeles County Bar Association. In his spare time, Mr. Reyes enjoys running, dancing salsa, and reading history books. Mr. Reyes has taken summer Spanish courses in Salamanca, Spain.
