Julie R. Glade studied Nursing at Michigan State University College of Nursing and graduated in 1981. She practiced as a medical/surgical nurse and then as nurse-therapist for a Chicago-based inpatient psychiatric/substance abuse facility until 1987 when she entered law school as a full-time student. This nursing experience afforded Ms. Glade the necessary skills for effective interaction with individuals, families and children in distress.
Attorney Glade graduated with honors from DePaul University College of Law in 1990 after serving as a law clerk extern for the Honorable James H. Alesia of the Federal District Court in Chicago, Illinois. She was admitted to practice in all State and Federal courts throughout the State of Indiana, and in Federal District and Appellate Courts in Illinois.
After law school, Ms. Glade was honored to serve as a Judicial Law Clerk for the Honorable Rudy Lozano, Federal District Court in Hammond, Indiana, and went on to practice law for the law firm of Smith & DeBonis, primarily representing plaintiffs in medical malpractice and pharmaceutical product liability matters.
Julie Glade began her life as a health care administrator at Southlake Center for Mental Health, where she served for several years, starting as Coordinator of Inpatient Substance Abuse Services, then receiving a promotion to serve on the Center's Management Staff as the Director of Addiction Services. Ms. Glade learned all aspects of budgeting, marketing and human resources in a healthcare organization, and developed an expertise in third party billing, social program reimbursement and departmental compliance with payor and accreditation standards.
This administrative experience led Ms. Glade to serve in the Business Development Department of Gateway Foundation, Inc., a nationally based, not-for-profit substance abuse treatment provider. There, she formulated proposals for multi-million dollar contracts and accounts, worked extensively with all levels of the Executive Management Team, and coordinated efforts between all corporate departments, including Human Resources, Finance, Accounting, Purchasing, Contract Compliance, Legal and Marketing. Her four (4) years at Gateway gave her an intimate and extensive look into corporate operations and contract negotiations.
Attorney Glade now practices law in Northwest Indiana as a sole practitioner, focusing in the areas of law that allow her to utilize her multi-faceted experiences and training.
