Douglas J. Giorgio, III, is a partner in the Tax and Corporate section of the firm. Mr. Giorgio concentrates his practice in the areas corporate law, federal tax law, estate planning, and estate administration and probate.
Mr. Giorgio was born in New Orleans, Louisiana and raised in Savannah. He attended the University of Notre Dame, graduating in 1989 with a Bachelor of Arts in Government and Philosophy. While at Notre Dame, Mr. Giorgio was a member of the University’s golf team where he served as Captain his senior year. Upon graduation, Mr. Giorgio spent the following year in Florida participating in professional golf “mini-tours”.
Upon earning his undergraduate degree, Mr. Giorgio attended Georgia State University and earned a Master of Taxation and became a certified public accountant. He worked for Price Waterhouse in Savannah and, later, as a Senior Accountant and Manager for Cooper & Lybrand in Spartanburg, South Carolina.
In 1998, Mr. Giorgio entered law school at the University of South Carolina School of Law, and received his Juirs Doctor in 2001. While in law school, he was a member of the South Carolina Law Review.
Mr. Giorgio is a member of the State Bar of Georgia, the State Bar of South Carolina, and the Savannah Bar Association. He is also a member of Savannah Estate Planning Council and a member of the Board of Directors for the Court Appointed Special Advocates.
Mr. Giorgia has been named a 2013 "Best Lawyers in America" in the category of Trusts and Estates. In 2010, Mr. Giorgio was selected as a Georgia “Rising Star” by Atlanta Magazine. The Rising Star program seeks to identify the top 2.5% of up-and-coming lawyers in Georgia who are under 40 and have been in practice less than 10 years.
Mr. Giorgio is admitted to practice before the Georgia and South Carolina state courts.
