Katherine Gillespie is a counsel in the Litigation Department at WilmerHale.
Practice
Ms. Gillespie has a general litigation practice with experience in civil litigation, white collar crime, internal corporate investigations and public policy matters. She has substantial experience representing clients in the pharmaceutical industry. Ms. Gillespie has represented a large corporation in a grand jury investigation involving allegations of health-care fraud and has advised clients on various federal health care law issues and federal qui tam cases.
Ms. Gillespie has represented individuals in pro bono matters before the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services, the United States District Court for the District of Columbia, and the Superior Court of the District of Columbia. She has advised pro bono clients on challenges to federal legislation involving civil rights issues.
Recent Highlights
As co-counsel with the National Women's Law Center, Ms. Gillespie assisted in the preparation of an amicus curiae brief on behalf of the Women's Sports Foundation and other amici in a case involving the interpretation of Title IX.
Ms. Gillespie represented the former owner of The Salt Lake Tribune in a dispute over ownership of the newspaper, which resulted in a favorable settlement.
Honors and Awards
Ms. Gillespie is the recipient of the firm's first Pickering fellowship in Washington, D.C, established in honor of John H. Pickering. She is spending six months practicing civil rights litigation at the Washington Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights and Urban Affairs.
