Yvette Recio is proud to serve her community with nearly 10 years of Texas legal experience. Ms. Recio is fluent in English and Spanish, which is an asset when working with an increasingly diverse population in Texas. Ms. Recio received her Doctorate of Jurisprudence degree from the University Of Puerto Rico School Of Law in 1992 and her B.A. from Sacred Heart University of Puerto Rico in 1989.
Ms. Recio began her legal career as counsel for the Office of Legislative Services in San Juan, Puerto Rico. After moving to Texas in 1995, Ms. Recio was admitted to the State Bar of Texas in 1996 and to the U.S. District Court Southern District of Texas in 2004.
Ms. Recio started her Texas legal experience at Rod Johnson & Associates. She then formed Recio & Wyatt, PC as a managing partner. Ms. Recio has experience in different areas of the law, such as bankruptcy, personal injury, probate and family law. However, in early 2004, Ms. Recio developed a passion for bankruptcy law and made this her primary focus.
The personal relationship she establishes with her clients and the satisfaction she gets from being able to relieve a debtor’s financial difficulties, led Ms. Recio to dedicate her practice solely to bankruptcy law. In late 2004, she started her own law firm, Recio & Wyatt, PC, dedicated exclusively to the practice of bankruptcy law. Ms. Recio joined the law firm of Tow & Koenig, PLLC, in August 2008. She handles Chapter 7 and 13 filings for both personal and business debtors.
Ms. Recio takes pride in representing her clients professionally and diligently. She enjoys witnessing the financial and emotional relief filing for bankruptcy gives her clients and the unique opportunity bankruptcy can provide for a fresh start. Ms. Recio is uniquely positioned to assist her clients through other issues that are often the root cause of the bankruptcy, such as a divorce, custody battle or a death in the family. She has an understanding of the probate and family law process, which helps her to better assist her clients through the personal stress and other legal issues that they may be experiencing. Ms. Recio is proud to representing debtors in filing for bankruptcy protection under Chapter 7 and 13.
Ms. Recio is a member of the State Bar of Texas, The College of the State Bar of Texas, the Federal Bar Association, the Houston Bar Association, the Houston Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys, the Montgomery County Bar Association and The Woodlands Bar Association.
