Ms. Recalde is an associate attorney with Pena & Kahn, practicing deportation defense in immigration court, and representing clients in bankruptcy.
Ms. Recalde began her immigration legal career in 1997, counseling individuals in obtaining temporary and permanent work visas, as well as representing clients in removal proceedings and asylum cases. Ms. Recalde was an advocate before the City Council Committee on Immigration to protect children in New York City’s foster care system who qualify for Special Immigrant Juvenile Status (SIJS).
Ms. Recalde completed her undergraduate degree from New York University, earned her law degree from Rutgers School of Law in Newark, New Jersey, and was admitted to the New York Bar in 1997. While in law school, Ms. Recalde was elected as the Project’s Editor for the Women’s Rights Law Reporter. Upon graduating Rutgers Law, she received the Carol Russ Memorial Prize awarded for outstanding advocacy on women’s health & the law. Fulfilling her interest in Alternative Dispute Resolution, after graduation she became a certified mediator and worked as a Deputy Director for the Brooklyn Mediation Center mediating and delegating cases referred by various courts.
Ms. Recalde is also admitted to the United States District Courts of the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York. She is fluent in Spanish and a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA).
