Experience
Brooks Derrick's litigation practice encompasses an exceptionally broad range of contentious matters that in recent years has included: general commercial litigation, mechanics' liens, catastrophic automobile accidents, banking foreclosures, collections, personal injury, products liability, professional malpractice, easement issues, landlord/tenant disputes, and criminal defense.
In addition, Brooks provides counseling to corporate clients in a variety of non-contentious matters, including formation, restructuring, contract drafting, as well as a litany of other corporate services.
Before starting the firm, Brooks worked at Nexsen Pruet, LLC where he gained experience representing both corporate defendants and plaintiffs while a member of its business litigation team.
Education
Brooks is a graduate of Gardner-Webb University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry while on scholarship for soccer. After earning his B.S., Brooks attended Clemson University, where he earned a Master of Science in Biomedical Engineering.
Brooks graduated magna cum laude from the Charleston School of Law, where he was a Legal Research and Writing Teaching Fellow, the Associate Justice of External Affairs on the Moot Court Board, a Dean's Scholar, and the Student Bar Association Vice President and Senator. Upon graduation, Brooks was selected by the school for membership into the exclusive Forensic Club, a special society for graduates based on demonstrated leadership, professionalism, public service, and academic commitment.
