Melissa Dempsey is an attorney with an extensive and diverse professional and educational background, reflecting her life-long dedication to advocating for the rights and needs of those she represents. Her life experiences have infused her commitment to family law with compassion and understanding of the emotional and economic hardships of divorce and child custody issues. Mindful, she approaches all cases with sensitivity, dedication, and the vigor necessary to achieve the best outcome for her clients.
Melissa received a B.A. in Foreign Relations and Sociology from Rollins College, an M.A. in Environmental Policy and Human Rights from NYU, and a J.D. from the Sandra Day O’Connor School of Law. As a merit scholar at her law school, she received many honors including the Deans Award for co-founding and being the editor in chief for the Law Journal for Social Justice.
Her professional experience includes federal legislative work, clerking at a human rights law firm in Washington D.C., mediation training and certification, as well as clerking at a corporate law firm in Phoenix. It was while working at the Indian Law Clinic, dealing with complex adoption issues involving the Indian Child Welfare Act, that her passion for family law ignited.
In Denver, Melissa has volunteered as a guardian ad litem for children through the Rocky Mountain Children’s Law Center and was a law clerk at the Johnson Sauer Legal Group, LLC before being named an associate in February, 2012. She was admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of Colorado in 2011.
