Elizabeth's commercial litigation and regulatory practice focuses primarily on government investigations and civil proceedings related to criminal investigations, with a particular emphasis on the regulation of energy commodities and corporate governance litigation. She also has experience in commercial litigation in state and federal courts, including matters involving energy commodities, securities, contractual disputes, products liability, and traditional oil and gas litigation.
Over the last several years, Elizabeth played a significant role in the representation of leading international energy companies under investigation by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission and the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, particularly those involving the Commodity Exchange Act and Energy Policy Act of 2005. These matters include regulatory enforcement and criminal actions involving allegations of market manipulation and false reporting of energy transactions brought by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, Department of Justice, and private civil litigants.
Elizabeth was also a contributor to the "Oil and Gas" portion of Energy Policy Act of 2005 Summary and Analysis of the Acts Major Provisions (Matthew Bender, 2006), a publication summarizing and analyzing the massive Energy Policy Act of 2005, the most comprehensive piece of energy legislation since 1992.
She is a member of the State Bar of Texas, the Houston Bar Association, and the Women's Energy Network of Houston.
