Since graduating with a J.D. from Willamette University, Joel has been dedicated to the practice of family, criminal law and general litigation. Joel provides his clients with honest advice, realistic expectations, and always maintains their best interests. Joel always begins his approach by first gaining an exhaustive understanding of all factors involved, and then creates effective strategies to help ensure the best possible outcomes for his clients. That requires, first and foremost, listening to his clients' concerns, values, and goals.
A lifelong Oregon native, Joel obtained his law degree from Willamette University College of Law. He obtained his undergraduate degree in Construction Engineering Management from Oregon State University. Joel joined the legal profession with one goal in mind: bring an analytical approach to guiding people around the overwhelming hurdles the courts and our justice system impose. He is a member of the Multnomah County Bar Association, the Washington County Bar Association, and the Oregon State Bar. Joel enjoys friendships through the Oregon Trial Lawyers Association and the Oregon Criminal Defense Lawyers Association (OCDLA).
"In this profession, there is no better feeling than knowing you have helped a client through one of the most difficult stages in his or her life. I personally believe the best thing I can ever hear from a client is a gracious and sincere 'thank you.'"
Prior to practicing law, Joel enjoyed project management with Oregon construction contractors building high rise condominiums, hospitals, and expanding semi-conductor "clean rooms."
Joel has a history of commitment towards serving Oregon communities. He served as the director of the OSU Big Buddy Little Buddy program from 2005 to 2008 - partnering youth with mentors to take part in monthly organized group events. Joel currently commits his time and efforts toward the Youth Rights and Justice Program - aimed at keeping youths in school and out of our justice system.
In his free time, Joel spends it with his brothers and friends taking part in the wonderful activities the Northwest has to offer - running, fishing, hiking, hunting, skiing, golf, and involvement with his local church.
