They say that family influences who you become and what you make of your life. So what drew Ashley to family law? She’ll say it’s growing up in a single parent household and being raised by two strong, intelligent women: her mother and her grandmother.
Her sisters, her mother (and a few teachers) might slightly disagree. They know her as the one who loved to argue, plead her case and most of all liked to win. Her personality had “attorney” written all over it!
When she began law school, Ashley realized that the legal system could be intimidating and overwhelming and that she could bridge that gap between her clients and the system. She chose family law because of the strong influence her own family has in her life. She saw her mother and grandmother, both of whom had successful careers outside the home, make sacrifices so that she and her two sisters could get an education and take advantage of any opportunities that were presented. She understood life in a single parent home, and the struggles that occur. Her goal as a family law attorney is to provide compassion, understanding and a high level of legal knowledge so that her clients and their families are guided through the legal system with the least amount of stress and upheaval as possible through this most difficult time.
Ashley graduated from Pepperdine University in 2004 with a BA in English Literature and attended Washburn University School of Law from which she graduated in 2008.
Before joining the firm, Ashley worked for the Juvenile Court for the Douglas County District Court in Lawrence, Kansas, as an associate attorney at a Phoenix, Arizona law firm and was most recently a solo practitioner.
When you get to know Ashley, you soon realize what’s most important to her. Integrity. In both her personal and professional life she treats every person she meets with respect. That’s how she was raised.
Ashley’s family is still the biggest influence on her life and that family now includes her husband of two years. She spends as much quality time as she can with her husband and other members of her family especially her nieces and nephews. She loves traveling and enjoys baking, sewing, painting and singing in her church choir and during football season, you can find her at a game or watching a game. After all, it’s about winning.
