Dr. DeShield's practice focuses primarily on patent opinions, freedom to operate opinions, patent counseling, and patent strategy. He has considerable experience in a broad range of technology areas, including pharmaceutical components and generic drugs, synthesis of small molecules and organic compounds, stem cell development and gene expression and molecular biology, cell biology, virology, bacteriology, biochemistry and signal transduction pathways involved in disease treatment, polymer and absorbent article chemistries, pesticides, plant and agricultural chemistry and genetics, food science, enzyme mechanism and catalysis, protein engineering. Dr. DeShield also has extensive experience in preparing and prosecuting domestic, international, and foreign patent applications in a variety of technical arts, including pharmaceuticals. He also performs intellectual property due diligence investigations and company acquisitions. Additionally, Dr. DeShield has experience with intellectual property licensing and FDA regulatory issues.
