Heather M. Deitch is an associate in the Estate and Tax Planning Group.  Heather concentrates her practice in the areas of estate planning, taxation, and elder law.

Heather provides sophisticated estate and tax planning techniques to a diverse group of clients through the use of revocable trusts, joint
trusts, irrevocable life insurance trusts, and family limited partnerships, as well as advanced asset protection planning through the use of irrevocable income-only trusts.

Heather designs complete estate plans for her clients, including wills, heath care proxies, durable powers of attorney, living wills, and nominee realty trusts. She works closely with her clients to ensure the proper funding of their trusts during their lives in order to provide asset protection and to avoid the expense of probate.

She has extensive experience in Medicaid planning and preservation of assets for the elderly, including assisting clients through the Medicaid eligibility and application process to secure MassHealth benefits and representing clients before the Board of Hearings to appeal the wrongful denial of benefits.

Heather has further expanded her practice to include special needs and disability planning through the use of Supplemental Needs Trusts, Sole Benefit Trusts, and (d)(4)(A) Trusts.

Attorney Heather M. Deitch earned an LL.M. in Taxation from Boston University School of Law in May 2011, a J.D. from New England School of Law in 2010, and a B.A. in Sociology, summa cum laude, from Emmanuel College in 2007.

During law school, Heather served as Executive Literary Editor of the New England Law Review. Her Note, Instead of Asking "When," Ask "How": Why the Rule Against Perpetuities Should Not Apply to Rights of First Refusal, was published in Volume 44 of the New England Law Review, Spring 2010.

Heather is admitted to practice in Massachusetts and New Hampshire.
