JOHN D. PROFFITT was admitted to the bar in Missouri in 1959, and to the Indiana bar in 1963. A native of Lebanon, Indiana, Mr. Proffitt graduated from Wabash College with an A.B. degree in 1954 and received his law degree from the University of Chicago in 1959. He is one of the four attorneys in the firm recognized by Martindale-Hubbell Law Directory with its highest rating. Before joining the firm in 1963, Mr. Proffitt was an associate with Stinson Morrison Hecker LLP, Kansas City, Missouri. Mr. Proffitt is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, The American Bar Foundation and the Indiana Bar Foundation. He served as President of the Indiana State Bar Association from 1995-1996. Mr. Proffitt's practice is concentrated in the areas of divorce and civil trial work, and he chairs the firm's Civil Litigation Practice Group. He has been a frequent faculty speaker at divorce law, personal injury and liability seminars for attorneys. Mr. Proffitt has been listed each year in Woodward / White Inc., "The Best Lawyers in America," since the publication was first published and Indianapolis Monthly Magazine's Best Lawyers in Indiana each year since inception.
