William Poole, Jr., who has been Of Counsel to the firm since 1983, was born in Forrest City, Arkansas in 1947. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting in 1971 from the University of Alabama, School of Commerce and Business Administration. William Poole attended the University of Alabama School of Law, where he received his Juris Doctor in 1974 and his LLM in Taxation in 1981.

William Poole is presently admitted to the Louisiana Bar, the Alabama Bar, the United States District Courts in the Eastern District of Louisiana, Southern District of Alabama, Middle District of Alabama, and Northern District of Alabama, as well as the United States Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals and Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals. William Poole co-authored Fifth Circuit Symposium Antitrust for the Loyola Law Review, as well as a How to Administer Estates in Alabama. His legal practice includes the areas of personal injury, real estate, probate law, municipal law, corporate law, business law, bankruptcy law, tax law, estate planning, commercial law, and trial practice.

In addition to his 37 years of experience in the practice of law, William Poole has been a faithful public servant for over 30 years. He has served the public as the Mayor of the City of Dayton, Alabama since 1980. He also served on the Demopolis Area Chamber of Commerce as the Chairman of Special Events and Christmas on the River in 1979, Chairman of Christmas on the River in 1980, and member of the Board of Directors from 1980 until 1982. William Poole served on the New Orleans Chamber of Commerce from 1977 until 1978 on the Agribusiness Committee, Members Council, and the Americanism Committee. An active member of Dayton United Methodist Church, William Poole has been a member of the Board of Trustees, President and Treasurer since 1979. He has also been involved in the Marengo County Historical Society as a member of the Board of Directors and President, the Linden Athletic Association as Treasurer, and the Seventeenth Circuit Bar Association as Treasurer and President.  He has also held various leadership roles in the University of Alabama National Alumni Association, including the roles of President and Vice President.
