Nick Pisano is a trial lawyer with experience in software, wireless communications, encryption, semiconductor, telephony, internet-based, and mechanical and medical device technologies, having litigated patent and trade secret matters in federal district courts throughout the United States and in interference proceedings before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. He also has extensive experience procuring patents relating to diverse technical fields, including software, wireless communications, telephony, network, semiconductor, and a vast array of medical device technologies. He represents start-up companies with respect to managing worldwide patent portfolios, licensing, and strategic/litigation planning. Nick also represents domestic and international venture capital firms in connection with intellectual property due diligence of investment targets engaged in developing medical devices and energy and wireless/telecommunications technologies.
Nick is co-chair of Jones Day's medical device group and e-discovery coordinator for the San Diego Office. Prior to practicing law, Nick worked in the nuclear industry, designing nuclear fuel design and simulation programs, first at General Electric Company in San Jose, California and later at Westinghouse Electric Corporation in Monroeville, Pennsylvania. While working as an engineer, Nick was a registered professional engineer in California.
