I became an attorney in order to help people through the important, sometimes difficult situations in their lives. My choice to study law and work as an attorney was heavily influenced by my experiences early in life.  I grew up living and traveling in a variety of settings both in the U.S. and abroad.  I moved to the Portland/Vancouver area about six years ago and continue to be thrilled with my choice.  I live within blocks of our firm in downtown Vancouver, frequent locally-owned downtown businesses, and actively seek ways to support the beneficial development of this city. 

Through my experiences living among diverse people groups, I have observed the richness created through differences and learned the importance of commitment to local community.  Early on, I learned how to negotiate differences in ideas and priorities to reach my objectives.  Combining that ability with legal knowledge and strategy, I am able to effectively help others reach their objectives on a daily basis.  I approach law as a tool to inform and empower my clients to hone their objectives and make wise choices when acting to achieve them.  I take my advocacy role seriously and enjoy avidly representing my clients’ interests in court when negotiation is simply not a meaningful option for resolution.

Along with others in our office, I work in a variety of practice areas so our clients may enjoy the benefits and convenience of varied expertise within one firm.  I focus largely on contract disputes, small business organization and management, employment law, landlord/tenant and real estate issues, probate (including wills, power of attorney, and guardianship), family law, collection defense and limited collections.
