Peterson, Thomas Alexander

TOM A. PETERSON IV specializes in defending people who are accused of breaking the law. Previously, Tom served as an assistant district attorney in the Augusta Judicial Circuit, one of the largest circuits in Georgia, where he gained extensive trial experience.  In that role, he successfully prosecuted numerous jury and bench trials, covering a multitude of crimes, in superior and state courts.  As a private practitioner, Tom blends his understanding of prosecutorial strategy and tactics, his ever-evolving knowledge of criminal law and his broad experience in defending men and women accused of breaking the laws of Georgia and the United States of America.  As a result, Tom routinely secures successful outcomes for individuals facing serious state and federal felony and DUI offenses.

Tom also focuses on workers' compensation law, obtaining and protecting income and medical benefits for workers who are injured on the job, and he successfully represents people who are victimized by the intentional and negligent acts of others. He also litigates other civil disputes in the areas of estate/probate law and real estate law. Further, he performs residential and commercial real estate closings, with authority to write title insurance for First American Title Insurance Company, and he represents creditors in bankruptcy court.
