Nicole Perry's practice is concentrated on commercial civil litigation in state and federal courts, with a focus on intellectual property and oil & gas matters. Nicole has represented corporate clients throughout the United States in trade secret lawsuits, copyright lawsuits, breach of contract claims, government investigations, and Fair Credit Reporting Act proceedings and related disputes under corresponding state laws.
Nicole has experience in a range of phases of litigation, including discovery, motion practice, settlement, and trial before juries, and she has worked with expert witnesses in a variety of fields. Nicole has significant experience with e-discovery matters, including data retention procedures, data collection and processing issues, and data review. She supervised more than 50 contract attorneys and 40 Jones Day associates in a complex document review that lasted more than two years. Nicole has had speaking roles at a number of hearings, has taken and defended more than 20 depositions, and has held the lead briefing role in several successful motions for summary judgment and motions to dismiss. She has acted as lead counsel for a national credit reporting agency in 30 consumer credit reporting cases. In addition, Nicole has substantial experience counseling management on corporate compliance issues.
In her pro bono representations, Nicole serves as a volunteer prosecutor for the city of Houston through the Houston Volunteer Prosecutors Program, where she has conducted voir dire and tried misdemeanor cases to verdict. Nicole also achieved a successful settlement for a mother of four children in a pro bono divorce representation through the Houston Volunteer Lawyers Program.
