Mr. Petzall’s primary practice consists primarily of commercial law including acquisitions, dispositions, contracts and general corporate counseling. Mr. Petzall’s other areas of specialty include insurance regulatory law and banking law. Mr. Petzall is also experienced in real estate, including real estate acquisitions and dispositions.
Mr. Petzall’s experience includes extensive work for the St. Louis Cardinals football team. This included preparing all the documents for a game between the Cardinals and San Diego Chargers in Tokyo, Japan, which was the first time in NFL history that a game was played outside of the continental United States. In addition, Mr. Petzall was primarily responsible for the work related to the Cardinals move from St. Louis to Arizona, including preparing the first ever Application for Relocation under the Rozelle Rule, the negotiations and documentation for the License Agreement with Arizona State University for the use of Sun Devil Stadium, the negotiations and documentation with the City of Tempe for the construction of the team’s offices and training facilities, and numerous other collateral documents and agreements. Mr. Petzall has represented various major league baseball players in their contract negotiations, including Hall of Famer Lou Brock, All-Star first baseman Keith Hernandez, and Al Hrabosky. Mr. Petzall prepared all the documentation for the acquisition by the Bi-State Development Agency of all mass transit facilities within the St. Louis metropolitan area, prepared the documents for the acquisition of Parks Airport, and handled the negotiations concerning the construction of the elevators in the Gateway Arch.
