Jim Cone practices primarily in the areas of civil litigation, corporate criminal investigations, and government procurement. Prior to joining Jones Day, Jim served as a captain in the Army Judge Advocate General's Corps. While serving as a judge advocate, Jim tried many cases as a trial counsel (military prosecutor) and as a defense counsel, representing soldiers accused of various crimes such as conspiracy and aggravated assault. Jim also served as a government procurement/contracts attorney and represented the government's position in protests before the Government Accountability Office (GAO). In his capacity as a procurement/contracts attorney, Jim reviewed the solicitations, contracts, contract awards, and contract modifications for several major Army programs and buying teams and ensured their compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and federal guidelines.
