James A. Federoff practices in the areas of real estate transactions, leasing, and development, including land use and zoning, as well as in business organizations and transactions. He is one of the principal authors of amendments to Indiana planning and zoning laws, and many residential real estate and construction forms used in northeast Indiana. He previously represented the Allen County Plan Commission and Board of Zoning Appeals from 1976-1989. Since that time, Jim has represented many real estate developers and national commercial retailers in projects locally and regionally. Jim also represents many businesses in organizational, transactional, and general commercial matters.
Jim was born in Detroit, Michigan on December 6, 1947, and received his undergraduate degree, with distinction, in Psychology (in 1969), and his Juris Doctorate from Wayne State University (in 1975). He was a sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corp Reserve (1970-1976). He was admitted to the bar of the State of Indiana in 1975, and has practiced in Fort Wayne, Indiana since his admission. Jim frequently participates as a chairman, author, and lecturer in many real estate education programs for lawyers, planners, and other land use and real estate professionals. He is a member of the Allen County, Indiana State, and American Bar Associations. Jim has been married to his wife Pat for over 40 years.
