Chris Farrell's practice focuses on commercial litigation and arbitration, including complex contract disputes, constitutional law, and civil antitrust matters. He has represented a wide range of clients — including pharmaceutical companies, retailers, and engineering and construction firms — at the trial and appellate levels.
Chris has substantial experience assisting clients in civil antitrust matters related to the enforcement of pharmaceutical patents, including prelitigation counseling and defense against Walker Process and sham litigation allegations arising from patent enforcement litigation and/or regulatory petitioning. He was part of the trial team that successfully defended sanofi-aventis against a claim that the company unlawfully suppressed generic competition for its rheumatoid arthritis drug, Arava. After a six-day trial, a jury in the Southern District of New York returned a unanimous verdict in favor of sanofi-aventis.
Chris maintains an active pro bono practice. Recently, he assisted a West African immigrant in vacating his conviction in Virginia court for a crime he was legally incapable of committing because he was under 18 years old. The court granted the client's petition for writ of error coram vobis, holding that it was the proper remedy to correct this critical error.
