Alice J. O’Neill brings 19 years of legal experience and a background in psychotherapy to her work on behalf of families. A certified mediator and arbitrator, O’Neill’s practice includes children’s rights, child custody, conservatorship, visitation, possession and access.
Before earning her law degree from South Texas College of Law, O’Neill worked for 18 years as a therapist. Her work with families in crisis led her to the law, where she knew she could become an even more effective advocate for children and families.
O’Neill worked at leading law firms and had her own law practice before forming O’Neill and Oglesby in 2012.
She is well-known in the Houston legal community for sharing her expertise in Family Law and Mediation at professional development seminars. She also is known as Judge O’Neill for her service as an Associate Municipal Court Judge for the City of Houston since 2004.
O’Neill is admitted to practice in state and federal courts. Her professional associations include: State Bar of Texas, Family Law Section and Alternative Dispute Resolution Section; American Bar Association; Association of Attorney Mediators, where she has served as a National Board Member and President of the Houston Chapter of the Association of Mediators; Association of Conflict Resolution; and Houston Bar Association. She also served on the Advisory Board for the Harris County Juvenile Probation Department and Juvenile Detention Center.
In addition to a Juris Doctorate from South Texas College of Law, O’Neill holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of St. Thomas; a Master of Education in Counseling Psychology from Texas A&M University, and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of St. Thomas.
